Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 24

Day 24

Sunrise at 7:11AM today….sitting in my happy spot taking it all in….

Hearty breakfast day….this has become a bad habit but it’s such a yummy way to start the day.  Besides, we need sustenance for all the hard work we do every day…haha!

I’m in charge of clean up while Vince dashes off to Pelicanos to pick up our zoom zoom….all shiny and new!

Off we go…down the west side stopping in at one of our favourite spots, Capitán Dulché….

I love coming here just to enjoy the quiet vibe and greenery.  The staff is wonderful and the place is just immaculate.  Excellent food too.  Plus they have live music…a couple of nice guitar players when we were there.  Can’t say enough good things about it!  Here’s a little tour…

After our nice little rest, we get back on ‘Red’ and zoom down to Punta Sur area, stopping to take in the view of the unreal colours near Garrafon….

This view never gets old…

There’s a kite flying overhead…

Heading up the east side road…..yes, these are ‘ruins’, but not ancient Mayan ruins…simply someone who started building and never finished…still scenic….

He loves his zoom zoom….many thanks to Vince’s mom who gave us the scooter rental as a holiday gift!

Time for a walk on the beach…

By mid afternoon we are home again, and venture the few steps to relaxation on our balcony.  The end to a perfect day as the sun dips into the sea…

Since we have Red now, we can venture out for dinners…Off to La Bruja, but they are closed.  Next try, Daisy & Raul…totally full.  Looked for Kash Keken Chuc’s new take out place but don’t think it’s open at night.   Last try, Basto’s…closed.  Well phooey!  We end up going to Chedraui and picking up some nice ham, cheese, avocado and fresh buns.

We eat our subs while watching the latest Survivor show.  Finish it off with maple walnut ice cream….delicious!

Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 13

Isla Mujeres 2015

Day 13

Woohoo…it’s golf cart extravaganza day!  Up with the sun….

Vince and Keith head out to get the cart and by 1015 we are enjoying brekkies at Mango Café…

Elisa and Vince have a stuffed chilli…

Keith has huevos rancheros…

I didn’t need brekkie after a big dinner last night so just enjoy the refreshing ginger lemonade.  Gracias Polo for a wonderful meal and great service!

We cross the street and walk behind the church to enjoy the view….great spot for sea glass hunting but not today….

Continuing on our trek, Elisa is off to do some shopping at the Women’s Bead Co-op.  While she shops I take in the church…

We make our way to Punta Sur, hoping that we’ve made it there before the crowds.  Nope, the parking lot is filled to the brim with other golf carts, yikes!  We’ll forgo the cliff walk and just enjoy the scenery…

And then get a little goofy….why am I the one schlepping the big bag??

View towards Cancun…

A short drive and we decide to check out La Joya…..driven past here many times but never wandered in.  There was no one to ask if it was okay so we were quiet and quick…..beautiful spot.  Very scenic and very quiet….

Back on the cart….time for a drink at Capitan Dulches.  Love this place!  A hidden gem as it is usually not very busy.  I am always so grateful that they have not fallen victim to the tourist day trippers coming from Cancun.   There is live music, great food and nice service.  Friendly staff and immaculate bathrooms!  We make many stops here during our holiday, but next year, we must come back and spend the day.

The guacamole is excellent!

We take the usual drive down Sac Bajo just to see any changes there and then venture into the colonias and Vince just has to give a tummy rub to this little one….

We stop at the Super Express and run into Sergio of Limón and he graciously invites us back to his restaurant just up the street.  We’ve never had the pleasure of eating at Limón but after seeing these critters we make a reservation!

Back on the cart we chug up the hill and back to the east side road, stopping in to see our friends’ penthouse at Isla 33.  What amazing views in every direction!

After wine and chatter, we decide on Oscar’s for dinner and meander down to the dock to find a nice table next to the water.  Keith and Elisa have ziti alfredo with chicken….looks delicious!

This little kitty was ravenous so we just had to share a bit of our pizza with him…

Our pizza was yummy with enough left over for tomorrow!

A great day spent touring this little isle with great friends….we finish it off at home with a nightcap and a vicious game of Sequence!  Thanks for a fun day amigos!
