Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 11-12

Isla Mujeres 2015

Day 11

A cool fresh breeze blowing this morning….think we are in a norte….

I sit on the balcony enjoying the view, but need to have a beach towel over my lap…brrrr!

Good thing I’ve some sweetie in the kitchen making us a yummy brekkie….that will warm us up!

Delish!

Since the wind is blowing a bit, we’ll just plant our lazy selves on our wonderful balcony, nicely secluded from the wind.  My daily view….

Some sun, a good book and a bag of chips….doesn’t get any better!

A very pretty sunset to finish off the day….

We didn’t know what we were going to do for dinner but then came up with a plan to try La Lomita’s with Keith and Elisa.  I don’t think we’ve eaten here since 2003.  We always plan to each year, but somehow it just slips by.  Well, we’ll be back again many times after this great meal!

Wearing sweatshirts to keep warm, the boys get cold cervezas in frosty glasses….

Salsa and guacamole….

Vince has sopa de lima which he says is awesome!

Keith has chili relleno….

And Elisa and I have enchilada suizza con pollo….oh my, I’m in love with this…soooo good!  Can’t wait to have it again!

We bundle up and make our way back home where we enjoy Kahlua and a mean game of Sequence.

We fall asleep to crashing waves and an extra blanket on the bed tonight to stay warm!

Day 12

Day 2 of the norte…..we always have at least 1 or 2 of these during our holidays…..it’s cool and brisk this morning…nice and fresh though….

Natural thermometer….coconut oil turns solid at 24C…..

C’mon sol!

Keith and Elisa invite us down to Sonrisa for an amazing breakfast….fried potatoes, freshly made crepes, bacon, juice and coffee…incredible!  Sooooo good!  A few days later I tried to make crepes like Keith’s, but sadly, they weren’t even close!

Tummies too full to walk far today…although we should!....we venture up to our balcony to warm up in the sun.

And after a bit of time in the sun….coconut oil is ready to be squeezed again!

Another lazy afternoon passes…..time to enjoy the sun saying goodbye until tomorrow….

We walk with Keith and Elisa to Olivia’s where we are meeting Frank for dinner.  We get seated at a wonderful table in the garden.  Frank has never eaten at Olivia before so we’re happy to introduce him to some wonderful food!   Freshly baked parmesan bread with tzatziki is ordered and we all dig in.

Keith has the moussaka; Vince, Elisa and Frank have chicken in olives; and I have my usual, beef kebabs.

We even find room for cherry ice cream.  Everything was wonderful as always….ambiance, service and deliciousness!

Back home for an early night as we have a golf cart adventure day planned for tomorrow!

Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 10

Isla Mujeres 2015

Day 10

Out to the balcony….still not used to the time change but I’m trying to sleep in a bit…

A few clouds around but they look harmless……how wonderful to float like a bird….

As much as I could sit here all day, time’s a wastin’!  It’s FIESTARITA DAY!!!!  Our 7th annual get together with amigos.  Each year the list of guest grows.  Very thankful that Caribbean Casa Isladise is such a perfect place to hold a fiesta!

We have a light breakfast and then get to cleaning the casa.  We borrow extra chairs from Keith and Elisa who are staying downstairs in Sonrisa.  Future Sonrisa guests…be forewarned….an invite to our Fiestarita if we can borrow chairs!

Keith and Elisa reading and relaxing on the malecon….

And as soon as I turn my back, guess who joins them?! Hey, get back here and get to work!

I’ll have a break then too and admire my daily view…

I’m so glad to see that the navy base got my memo about making things spiffy!

A mini tour of Isladise’s main floor, all ready for the invasion….

As the afternoon continues, clouds roll in.  Noooooo!!  It can’t rain on our parade!  It does rain a bit with wind gusts too.  Phooey!

Vince and Keith dash off to Asia Caribe to get our sticky ribs.  When they return with the goodies, I open the box.  Um, what’s this?  Those are not sticky rib appies!  Turns out that we got the dinner ribs instead.  Oh dear, how’s this going to work?  I cut them up into pieces, put them in a pan and into the oven to stay warm.  Instead of an appy they became a dinner course and were just perfect.

5:30 and the gang starts arriving, all laden will wonderful food and drink.

Sparky gets busy making his new specialty…Tequila Sunset.  Very tasty…and just a little bit deadly!  I do like my drinks to be colour coordinated with my casa, haha!

Early birds start digging in….

All the food was truly amazing!  Just some of the appetizers….

Stephanie brought some awesome homemade wine gums….didn’t get a photo as they disappeared quite quickly!

Captain Tony Garcia and Betsy brought a huge amazing bowl of lobster salad….died and gone to heaven delicious!!!

What a wonderful group of amigos….

Lots of photos of our fun evening….

So, maybe a little explanation needed here.  Keith and Vince have this little issue with having to hold onto our purses once in a while.  Of course we always get a photo when that happens and tease them.  Now I think they’re starting to enjoy it!

Mini oreo cookie monster!

Nice photobombing going on….

And another photo bomb….

Seriously…a photo bomb epidemic going on…too funny!

As the evening wears on, the crowd begins to thin….but then more fun ensues.  What better way to top off this fun and food with dessert!  Keith is an expert crepe maker and quickly dashes downstairs to get supplies.

Elisa adds the nutella and banana and the rest of us enjoy the yummy treat!  Delish!

I can’t explain this one….can’t remember!!!  Pretty sure it wasn’t raining in the casa!  Guess you had to be there!

Somewhere around midnight, it’s just the 2 of us.  Clean up time!  By 1 the dishes are done, floor washed and garbage emptied.  Really didn’t want to get up to that in the morning so glad we did it.  You can always tell how good a party was by the number of empties….these are just a few…..

Gracias to everyone who made this another wonderful Fiestarita!!!  Here’s to 2016!!!
