Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 18-19

Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 18

A few clouds hiding the sun this morn…

Not sure what the weather has in store for us today but it is very very humid.  Vince is off at 930 to meet Dan at the gym.  I decide to walk to Chedraui to restock the fridge while he’s off getting buff..haha.  It’s a nice walk….scenery to enjoy and just a few drops of rain to add to my sweat droplets.

Grocery bags filled I hop in a taxi for a $30 peso ride home.  He takes the east road for some reason as he has another fare in the front seat.  I wave out the window as we pass by Vince and Dan walking back home.  No room for them so we zoom past.   I quickly put things away before they melt and then settle down with a fresh flaky croissant with cream cheese and jam….yummy!

It’s still super toasty and humid so it’s up to the balcony for grilling and sizzling.

Clouds roll in for sunset but still pretty.

We get our bacon tomato avocado and cheese subs ready and then head up to the balcony to enjoy the rest of the show…

And soon the clouds take over and the rain begins to fall….not on us though, only over on the mainland…

The winds pick up and we get to see a kite surfer having some fun….

Quiet night for us….stayed in and watched some TV and hit the pillows early.

Isla Mujeres 2015 ~~ Day 19

Ahhhhh…..I tiptoe out to my morning perch…..

The air is incredibly still today….not even a slight breeze…

Not even a ripple on the water….

The high humidity in the air and lack of wind always creates a bit of a fog between Isla and the mainland….hazy day…

After some toast for brekkie and one last view, we haul our lazy selves to Playa Norte to join the gang for shake and bake.

Vince and Jean….easy to tell who has done this before and who hasn’t!

Beautiful day….so happy to be here!

We hitch a ride home with Brenda and her mom, just in time to see the sunset…which is obscured by clouds today….

Good thing, as we are off to Morgan’s to meet the gang….Dan and Steph’s last night…boohoo…nice purse Frank….

The gang’s all here!

Yummo!

Too soon the hugs begin…adios Dan and Steph….looking forward to more fun next year!

The rest of us need some dinner before any more drinks so our feet lead us to Asia Caribe, one of our favourites.

Jan                 Yum salad
Bruce             Hearts of palm salad
Frank             Miso soup, spring rolls and egg rolls
Vince             Pork Tenderloin
Doris             California Special Rolls

And then….dessert!...We’ve heard about the cheesecake but didn’t know it was this yummy!!!  Everyone gets a fork and we share….so good!

We all wander Hidalgo taking in the sights and sounds.  Too soon the eyelids are getting heavy and we leave Frank to party as we wander home.  Just another perfect day in paradise!

Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 28

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 28 ~~ Thursday March 6

"The Sky is Crying!"

The sky is absolutely gorgeous this morning!  What is the saying?…."red sky at morning, sailors take warning"…….we shall see!

Since we only have a few days left, we do another quick zoom zoom…..these dogs have their 'personal space boundaries' perfected!

The disco bus just waiting for some party folks!

The Chedraui 'intersection'….not quite sure what the light is for as I've never seen it stopping traffic….

Back to the market at the north end of Guerrero to get our delicious sweet orange juice from Mercedes…last booth on the left….she's the best!

Get your fresh meat here!….

Time to head to the ferry to see our amigo Frank take the 'walk of tears'….

With a cerveza in hand, he is all smiles….until we see you again!

The 'departure' committee at work…..it's sweet how we all offer hugs and waves to make leaving paradise a little more bearable!

Grandma is reading the paper while kitty relaxes….

We make our way home for brekkies in the sunshine on the balcony…

A fisherman cleans his catch ….

And less than 5 minutes later, the sun begins to disappear and something from the north is moving our way…

When things turn white, you know there is a bit of rain coming…

We dash out to the balconies to rescue the cushions…and find this little fellow hiding for cover…

I've never seen a storm move in quite so quickly!  And things get ugly really fast!

Lightning and thunder too…the blip on the screen at the 11 second mark was major lightning!

One positive….the windows get power washed!

We had to grab towels to stop the rain coming in under the doors…

Another positive….there was nowhere to go while it poured for a few hours, so it was the perfect time to start packing.  We get most of it done so now we can just enjoy our last bit of time here.

The storm passed and we were treated to a colourful sunset, just like the sunrise….

It was like part of the sky was on fire….these are true colours…no filters or embellishments…

It's safe to leave our cocoon so we meet the gang at Morgan's for happy hour margaritas….

After our thirst is quenched, we wander to Asia Caribe for another delicious dinner…

It was a great dinner as always….but we still have room for dessert!

Sadly, tomorrow begins the 'day of lasts'…...
