Isla Mujeres 2012 ~~ Day 5

~~Day 5  “Jon & Nick ITFF and Caribbean Casa Tour”

Good morning Sunshine!

Wonderful views in every direction….this is the view from the sunset balcony during the day…Cancun in the distance…

Such a beautiful day so we’re off to the beach bright and early.  We find one of ‘our’ spots under the palms and get comfy.  Not long after, the peace is broken by a huge thud!  Scared the daylights out of me, and maybe more!  ;)   Not a foot from my chair a huge and very heavy coconut landed.  Wow…if that had landed on my head, I think I would have been in trouble.

I quickly get up and move my chair a safe distance away from any more coconut bombs.  Always look up before sitting down!

Back to enjoying the peace and quiet for a while longer.  By mid-afternoon we leave the beach to go see Jon Stone and Nick Norman perform at the Soggy Peso.  Jon and Nick are incredibly talented musicians and songwriter and a lot of fun!  They are part of the entertainment for the annual Island Time Fishing Festival or ITFF, a fundraiser for a very worth charity of Isla, The Little Yellow Schoolhouse.   Now, Vince and I are far from being country music fans, but Jon and Nick could make any rock ‘n roller appreciate good music and fun entertainment!  Off to the Soggy Peso where they are giving an informal afternoon performance.

There’s a big crowd gathered….

And what do I find while sitting poolside?.....

I’ve only been to the Soggy Peso twice and each time I’ve seen a scorpion!  Must be their hang out spot!

We head off to Chedraui to pick up a few things since we’re close by, then head home for a quiet evening.  Had our Olivia’s leftovers with some buns and salad and we’re happy!

Since there aren’t too many photos today, here’s a tour of Casita Isladise of Caribbean Casa.  We started staying at this townhouse in 2008 when it was still called villa makax.   In 2011, it was purchased by new owners, Cori and Pedro, who have since turned it into something beyond even my dreams!  They added a third floor master suite complete with a sunrise balcony, sunset balcony and dipping pool.  The main floor has a bathroom, kitchenette, living area and east-facing balcony.  There have been even more updates to it since I took these photos.  For all the latest visit their website at www.caribbeancasa.com or their Facebook page at Caribbean Casa Facebook Page
Here we go….

From the street….’Casita Sonrisa’ is a studio apartment on the main floor and boasts a brand new beautiful kitchen.  ‘Casita Isladise’ is the second and third floor.

Front door…beautiful wood with and opening for flow through breezes…

Open the front door of Isladise…..bathroom to the left, kitchenette and dining area, living area with TV, and balcony overlooking the sea…

Kitchenette with full size fridge……a little birdie tells me that there will be a new full size kitchen coming some time next year J  In the meantime, this one is very well appointed with all that you need for some meals at home.

The main floor bathroom…

The living area and balcony….

The main floor looking down from the stairs up to the master suite…

And as soon as you reach the top of the stairs….

Looking out to sunrise balcony....and stairs….

The windows in the stairwell provide tons of light and awesome views….

Gorgeous views everywhere…right from your pillow….

Bathroom entrance….

Huge shower!

Doors to sunset balcony…

The dipping pool….on the other side of that window is the shower.  You can shower while watching the sunset!

Even 30 nights is not long enough here in ‘Isladise’…..can’t wait to be back ‘home’!

Here are a couple of photos from Caribbean Casa that show just some of the updates....

New sliding door and window, including the famous 'Pedro Arch'....new TV stand, fresh paint and new tile work on the stairway arch...new patio furniture....

Cori and Pedro are constantly coming up with ideas on how to make this place even more fantastic.  I'm looking forward to sharing all the latest after our holiday in 2014!

  1. All I can say is, "beautiful, beautiful, beautiful". Lot's of room to stretch out in and great views. You are so fortunate to be able to stay a month when you go. I know your last year has been difficult. Hope you make it in 2014. Do you think your mother would enjoy it too?
