Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 23

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 23 ~~ Saturday Mar. 1

March 1st!!!  How did it already become March 1st!?!  Time is slipping by too quickly!  One more week…shhhh, don't think about it!

The sun is getting up later and it seems that I am getting up earlier...

Sometimes as I sit and wait for el Sol to peek above the horizon, I feel impatient.  And then I take a deep breath and remember to just savour each moment…let time slow down….

Bright and early, we are off to join friends for breakfast at M & J Cazuela...

Vince is just way too darn happy to have his chaya drink….there's a lot of  'man puff' going on…table banging etc as they discuss the supposed benefits of chaya..virility, stamina, etc.  Okay boys, settle down!  Look at that smile though!  :)

Keith and his mama..ready to dig in!

My favourite, the infamous 'mashbrowns'...

¡Buen provecho!

Keith and Elisa

Vince's cazuela….yummy!

We make plans to meet up for dinner tonight and then head off to la playa…..driving past the market at the north end of Guerrero...

Had to stop in at Vince's favourite little cerveza shop...

And then….aaaahhhhh…..we decide to sit on the 'Posada' beach as Carnaval is beginning and we thought we might hear some music and dancing nearby.

Tons of room to spread out….pick a spot!

I see colourful ladies arrive on Rueda Medina…dancing time!

The lighthouse is still standing proud…..I still remember the year that we climbed up inside that one….scary!  Awesome views though!

Nice day at the beach but it is oh so nice to come home to this again….

Nice and warm today…just might have to take a late afternoon dip...

Enjoying the sunset view in the east….

See you tomorrow Sol...

We hop on the scooter down island to Monchi's.  Ziggy is cooking tonight and we're looking forward to a yummy meal.  He has the perfect welcome!  Gracias Ziggy!

The margaritas are HUGE!!!!  And Delicious!!!!

The gang's all here!

I needed 2 hands to hold it!

Can't remember what everyone had, but it was all very good!

This was my arrachera burrito…it was very good.

Ziggy joins us….since this time, I believe Monchi's has closed.  Ziggy has moved on as chef at Barlito's at Marina Paraiso.  We are definitely going to be going there for dinner next time!  Get ready Ziggy!

Scooter ride back to centro where we meet up with some of the gang at Morgan's…just to continue the margarita event...

Some fool (uh Keith!) suggested tequila shooters!

¡Salud!

Bottoms up!  He's going to feel that tomorrow!

Dancing Time!

This little boy was so proud of his mama…he could barely wait until she was finished dancing so he could have a hug….

Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 22

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 22 ~~ Friday  Feb.28

"Adios to amigos….and uhoh... no more notes"

Up early of course…..cloudy skies greet us though…

We're on a mission….off to the ferry bright and early.  Dan and Steph are leaving today, on the 630am ferry.  Somehow it's a little less painful to leave on a cloudy day…even Isla is sad that they are leaving!

The walk of tears….but they'll be back again soon!  In fact, as I write this, they are enjoying another month-long holiday on Isla!   So, don't feel too badly for them!

The new ferry terminal….sigh….so sterile and drab looking on an island that was voted 'most colourful'!

Adios Dan and Steph…see you in February!

One last wave...

The ocean is like glass this morning!

So, this is the point where my notes end….not sure why I stopped as it was always my morning routine while I watched the sunrise.  Maybe I just decided to be more 'in the moment' and not worry about recording anything!  Or maybe, after 3 weeks, I finally really got absorbed into the real Isla world and knew that notes weren't important…feelings and experiences were.  No matter….photos tell the story anyway!

We take an early morning walk….to the area south of the malecon…where it used to be before Wilma destroyed it in 2005….

Looks like someone is trying to create a bonsai….

Stairway to heaven?….

The skies start to clear by the time we walk to centro…..Carnival begins today and practice is in full force...

The little fellow was on a mission!….

We head back home after getting a few groceries from Super Express, have some brekkies and then decide on a zoom zoom.

Keeping Isla beautiful!

The scenic area of Punta Sur...

Garrafon view...

Pretty fancy golf cart!

And once we're home again, move views to enjoy...

Time for lunch….delicious sandwich made with my leftover beef kebabs from Olivia….perfect!

Keith and Elisa join us for some sunset snacks…..

With a nice vino tinto in hand, we sit back to enjoy the show...

Keith and Elisa dash off to have dinner with Keith's parents.  We linger for a while and when we reach centro, Carnival fun has begun!

Not sure what we had for dinner….no notes and no photos!….but I know what we had for dessert!….Morgan's margaritas…yum yum yum!  And look, I'm not the oddball…someone else joined me in strawberry land!
