Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 19

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 19 ~~ Tuesday Feb.25

"Every Shade of Blue"

A day of blues coming up….not 'emotional blues'….that never happens here!!!  But blues in every shade possible.  In the sky, in the water.  Isla Mujeres has been voted 'one of the most colourful islands'.  And that is definitely true, but I think it's the gorgeous hues of blues that entrance us all….

Sunrise….again of course!

Instead of just letting the baby sleep today, I drag Vince off on a nice long walk of the beach.  It's definitely not a 'fitness' walk as we shuffle along in the sand, stopping many times just to enjoy the view as if we'd never seen it a million times before.

Our first stop…..brings melancholy…..on our very first adventure to Isla in 2002, this was the spot that we sat with our friends Sandi and Bob.  The crooked palm remains even though the surroundings have changed.  It was the most perfect day together and since my sweet friend Sandi passed away, a cherished memory...

Bob and Sandi...2002

An early morning fisherman heading out from the pristine waters of Playa Norte...

Sandi….Forever Isla dreaming

A moment of love for Kathryn Blume as well…..who sadly lost her long battle with colon cancer in January.   Her wish was always that no one would struggle with this dreaded disease….please get a colonoscopy!

Playa Norte…before the crowds arrive...

The King of Playa Norte!…in his mind anyway!

The view from Buho's upper deck area...

Buho's

Just aaaaahhhhhhh...

Time for a rest….and a selfie!

Around the corner...

The 'rock house'….indestructible!

Na Balam

All you need is Love….and Isla….

Colourful blooms at Maria del Mar...

I have this photo on every computer….one of my favs….

Back at Casita Isladise where we relax on the balcony and enjoy more views of blues...

From arriba…the rooftop….

Calm waters this afternoon...

And another perfect ending to another perfect day...

But the day's not over yet!  Keith and Elisa are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary and have asked us to join them for dinner at Sunset Grill…our table on the beach is ready….

Keith's parents, Tom and Arlene...

Happy 30th Keith and Elisa!!

They must have married when they were 5!  Lovebirds!

Lots of smooches

The setting could not be more perfect for a romantic dinner.  Tiki torches and gentle lapping of waves at the shoreline.  The service was very nice.

Our anniversary gift…luckily, in all their trips to Isla, they had never started a Hernandez talavera collection.   Now they have their first piece.  Thanks to Alejandro at the 'purple shop' for helping us pick out the perfect one!

Nautibeach is very pretty at night…lots of nice palm trees and foliage that is missing amidst all the concrete in centro….

A wonderful evening with friends...

More fun tomorrow, and a new restaurant to try!….

  1. What beautiful pictures, Doris! I love how you frame them so nicely. That was a fantastic day, romantic from start to finish. And your friends seriously look about 36-37 years old, wow!

  2. Thanks Nancy! Keith and Elisa were definitely babies when they got married! And they still act like teenagers in love! :)
