Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 29

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 29 ~~ Friday March 7

"All is Perfect in Isladise!"

This is what the sky looks like at 5:37am….

And again at 5:47am...

I don't know how I'm going to adjust to the new time zone change….I hate sleeping in on holiday because I just don't want to waste a second!  Now my day will be starting an hour later….half the day is gone!!  :)

Caribbean Casa has a big basket of sea glass, and during my 'alone-time' on the balcony, I would make different designs and things.  I should have had this at the beginning of my report, but here it is…works for the end too I guess!

We are off bright and early to Playa Norte and plant ourselves in full sun right at the water's edge.  Gotta soak up as many rays as possible today!

Even after 13 years of Isla holidays, this view never gets old….

"Did you have a good holiday darling?"  "Oh yes!"

We sizzled and snoozed the hours away….and then got rudely interrupted when a loud group of at least 10 people decided to plant all their chairs in a large circle right next to us and have a gab fest.  Oh well, there are other beaches on Isla!  We need to find our zen place for just a while longer.  Off to the 'Posada beach', which has a nice view too!

And there's tons of room to spread out and have your own little 'zen' spot...

We linger as long as we can, enjoying siestas and splashes.  Hop on the scooter and make our way to the Artist's Fair.  It's usually on Thursdays but was rescheduled due to the downpour yesterday.

I buy numerous trinkets, scarves, bracelets and a necklace pendant.  Lots of goodies to choose from!  Nothing like last minute shopping!

And then it's time….time for the last sunset of Isla '14.  And it's a beauty….

Too soon, it dips below the horizon, gone from our view for another 340 days or so….

It is our tradition to enjoy our last dinner at Olivia's, one of our very favourite restaurants.  We are happy to have Darcy and Barry join us...

The food is delicious as always….

Looking forward to enjoying more great meals at Olivia's…we already have 2 reservations made!

We've been invited to see friends at their penthouse at Ixchel.  On the way, we run into a friendly group of hungry kitties at the end of Hidalgo..

Darcy had some yummy leftovers and happily shares it with the gatos.  They were very happy for such a delicious treat!

We make our way to the penthouse….great party place under the stars...

Gorgeous view at night…..must be spectacular during the day….

These stairs and alcohol do not mix well!….

Part time bartender!  Don't quit your day job!

It was great to have time together with friends, but we still have a lot to pack up, so we make our way home and get the deeds done.  One last kaluha with ice on the balcony, enjoying the soothing sound of the waves and the twinkling stars….

Tomorrow…..sunrise and zoom zoom….. :)

Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 28

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 28 ~~ Thursday March 6

"The Sky is Crying!"

The sky is absolutely gorgeous this morning!  What is the saying?…."red sky at morning, sailors take warning"…….we shall see!

Since we only have a few days left, we do another quick zoom zoom…..these dogs have their 'personal space boundaries' perfected!

The disco bus just waiting for some party folks!

The Chedraui 'intersection'….not quite sure what the light is for as I've never seen it stopping traffic….

Back to the market at the north end of Guerrero to get our delicious sweet orange juice from Mercedes…last booth on the left….she's the best!

Get your fresh meat here!….

Time to head to the ferry to see our amigo Frank take the 'walk of tears'….

With a cerveza in hand, he is all smiles….until we see you again!

The 'departure' committee at work…..it's sweet how we all offer hugs and waves to make leaving paradise a little more bearable!

Grandma is reading the paper while kitty relaxes….

We make our way home for brekkies in the sunshine on the balcony…

A fisherman cleans his catch ….

And less than 5 minutes later, the sun begins to disappear and something from the north is moving our way…

When things turn white, you know there is a bit of rain coming…

We dash out to the balconies to rescue the cushions…and find this little fellow hiding for cover…

I've never seen a storm move in quite so quickly!  And things get ugly really fast!

Lightning and thunder too…the blip on the screen at the 11 second mark was major lightning!

One positive….the windows get power washed!

We had to grab towels to stop the rain coming in under the doors…

Another positive….there was nowhere to go while it poured for a few hours, so it was the perfect time to start packing.  We get most of it done so now we can just enjoy our last bit of time here.

The storm passed and we were treated to a colourful sunset, just like the sunrise….

It was like part of the sky was on fire….these are true colours…no filters or embellishments…

It's safe to leave our cocoon so we meet the gang at Morgan's for happy hour margaritas….

After our thirst is quenched, we wander to Asia Caribe for another delicious dinner…

It was a great dinner as always….but we still have room for dessert!

Sadly, tomorrow begins the 'day of lasts'…...
