Isla Mujeres 2014~~Day 12

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 12 ~~ Tuesday Feb.18

"A Caribbean Casa Casita Isladise Tour…and Margaritas Galore!"

Good morning Sol!

A quiet morning….I spend some time writing my Lolo review and uploading photos from the past few days.  We munch on our usual breakfast of cereal, yogurt and fruit.  Our friends Keith and Elisa and Keith's parents drop by around 11 to drop off the majority of their luggage.  They're off to Isla Holbox for a few days so we offered to store their suitcases so they could travel light.  Wish we were going with them…we've always enjoyed Isla Holbox and I'm sure they will too.  Once they're gone, Vince goes off to find 'Cheeklet' our moped fellow.  He works for the fisherman's coop now but still has moped connections for us at Angel's on Juarez.  He makes arrangements to pick it up on Friday morning.

The quiet morning is followed by a lazy afternoon!  Vince made us sandwiches that we enjoyed while taking in the view...

Lunch is followed by sun worship and refreshing dips…

Captain Jack Sparrow arrives to take me away on his ship!  haha

Since today is a rather routine day, how about a proper tour of Caribbean Casa, Casita Isladise…..

We've been staying in this location since we discovered it in 2008, when it was Villa Makax, Casita William…when it looked like this...

It was just a 1 floor studio at that time, but we loved it.  Who knew what a true paradise aka 'Isladise' that it would become just a few years later.   Cori & Pedro bought Villa Makax just after our stay there in 2011.  Since then they have renovated it from top to bottom and inside and out, making it one of the most popular places to stay on Isla.  And deservedly so, as it is gorgeous!  After our stay this year, a new kitchen was built in Isladise and Cori has graciously sent me all the photos so I can post an up-to-date version of Casita Isladise….come along for the tour!

New planter boxes filled with bougainvillaea….

The view from the doorway...

The wooden door with functional opening for flow-through breezes….

The grand entrance when you step inside….

The new sitting area and full kitchen….dinner with a view!

The living room boasts an amazing view and a comfortable sofa…

Incredible views from the main floor balcony…

And a very comfy hammock….perfect for afternoon siestas..

The stairway to the upper floor….not shown on this photo are the new stairwell lights

The view from the stairway to the main floor living area…love all the warm bright colours...

And once you go up the stairs…there  are more amazing views in every direction….

Surrounded by sun and sea….

The sunrise balcony where I sit each morning….

The large glass doors that open onto the sunset balcony and dipping pool….

The large…I mean, really large shower!….with a view!

As much as we love Playa Norte, this is a wonderful oasis…we spent many days here enjoying the tranquility and comfort of 'home'...

The view from the rooftop…..

So, that concludes the tour of Casita Isladise.  If you are interested in booking, contact Cori at www.ourcaribbeancasa.com   It is very popular, but if your dates are flexible, you might get lucky!  And if Casita Isladise isn't available, you will also be happy with a stay in the lower unit, Casita Sonrisa….the same beautiful views to the east, a full new kitchen and direct access to the malecon.

On to the rest of our day…..we enjoy a bit of a sunset….

And then it's time to dash as we are meeting Dan and Steph at Morgan's for happy hour margaritas!

Jan and Bruce happened to walk by and join us…..apparently I am the oddball with the strawberry marg…everyone else prefers mango…..it's cool to be different!  :)

A vote is taken and we decide to have dinner at Bally Hoos….a long time favourite.  Great location right over the water…great service too.

Vince had fish and chips….

While I had fish tacos….

Food….good…..but the batter on the fish and chips was heavy….and I really like Morgan's blue corn tacos.

The baƱos are always an adventure….you need a key and they are up near the Pemex station.  We wander Hidalgo and somehow end up needing a rest at Adelita's.  Rest?  What rest?  We need tequila!  A few different ones are tried…shots and sippers.  Some are good and some are a little rough…pass that lime!  I need strawberries with my tequila!  Another great night with great friends!
