Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 6-7

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 6-7

Day 6~~Wednesday Feb.12

“The Beach is Calling!”

Good morning SeƱorita Sol…

Just another gorgeous day in Paradise!

We walk into centro to the Super Express for a few things, bumping into several friends along the way.  It’s a small island!  We walk home along the malecon stopping to take a photo of Caribbean Casa from the ocean side…..

Brekkies of yogurt and cereal, along with an awesome view…

We hear the beach calling our names but…..the electrician is coming again to change out a flickering light, so, darn…we’ll just have to be incredibly lazy and lounge away on our balcony once again.

It’s definitely not a hardship….so many beautiful views in every direction….

The fishy joins me for a dip in the dipping pool…..so refreshing…

It’s funny….almost every time I look at these windows I just have to take a photo….just want to capture that view to enjoy all year long….

Tonight we’ve been invited to join friends at Bahia Tortuga.  We’ve never been there so we’re looking forward to a fun evening.

First though, we need pesos!  We had issues with HSBC last time, so we’re avoiding that ATM.  Around the corner to Banamex which worked well before, but hmmm…not tonight.  Okay, option #3…
CI Banco, a little cubby ATM on Medina.  Success!  And also the lowest fee at 17 pesos.

Off to the taxi stand….I ask the price after looking at the fare board.  He says 40 pesos….I say, shouldn’t it be 26 pesos?  He says okay, so we hop in and off we go.  I gave him 30 pesos.

Happy to see a bunch of friends that we haven’t see for a few years….we find a spot just as Jeff Current begins to play.  I have a strawberry margarita and Vince has 2 cervezas.  We share grouper chunks, which were very good.  The bill was $245 plus tip.  The wait staff was great, the setting was nice.  We have a good time visiting and are lucky enough to catch a golf cart ride home.

There’s a beautiful night sky when we arrive home….it was actually completely clear and dark, but with a night setting, this is what I captured…..probably my favourite photo on this holiday…..

After such a tough day, haha…we hit the pillows falling asleep to the waves.

Day 7~~Thursday Feb.13

“The Beach is Calling……um, no it’s not…And The Bachelor/Bacherlorette Party!”

Hmmmm….what’s that called?  Who ordered the clouds?

There can’t be clouds on the day we had finally planned to go to Playa Norte!

Well, the clouds aren’t moving aside quickly today, so we decide to go for a walk towards Chedraui instead.  Might as well stock up on a few things.  We meet Jan and Bruce out walking as well, so we make the trek together.   We bump into Captain Tony at Chedraui….picking up more supplies for the upcoming wedding!  We’ll see him and Betsy later tonight.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day so there’s a fun photo op courtesy of La Victoria cerveza….

A taxi home with our goodies, and the sun is shining again….

A relaxing afternoon reading and sunning…..and a little workout….

By 4 we are making sandwiches for an early dinner.  It’s going to be a busy evening!  Jan and Bruce join us on the balcony for sunset supper….

And before we leave for the evening…a moonrise….

We hop a taxi to La Gloria…..for the Disco Bus!!!!  Tonight is the bachelor/bachelorette party for Captain Tony and Betsy.

Everyone gets in line to get on board….notice the jackets…it’s was a bit cool this evening…

 The soon-to-be bride and groom….

Tony with his ‘ball and chain’….I’m not sure he knew what that meant, but he played along!

Brenda….one of the many great organizers!

Selfie rule #1….no face shadows!  But I think Jan looks cool with her ‘zorro mask’!

And we’re off…..sometimes it felt like it might tip over since it was so top heavy!  It was a fun time!

Come along for a ride…..

The girls get dropped off on Medina while the boys kidnap Tony and take him away to whereabouts unknown!

We make our way to Fayne’s where the bachelorette party begins…..nice table decorations….

We are serenaded…..

And then the contest begins…..we had all been told to bring several rolls of toilet paper.  We thought that was a strange request, but now we know what it was for!.....we are divided into 2 teams and need to create a tp wedding dress!  Marla and Anne are the ‘brides’…..it was pretty funny!

Tony skipped out on the boys and came back to his sweetheart in time to choose the winner.  Marla and Javier pretend…..

And then the rest of the boys arrive….obviously having enjoyed their time away to the max….uhoh!  Bruce is feeling no pain!

Lovebirds Brian and Brenda….

Crazy bomba chicas…..

Fire dancer…..

Tracy is dying to dance so we send Vince to the dance floor with her.  Oh my!  Hilarious!  It was quite the show…..Tracy had a good time while Vince turned several shades of red!

Getting a Biggy B hug…..(Brenda’s photo)

It’s a great evening with some great music from Javier’s La Banda Sin Nombre, with Marla singing along.  Brenda and Brian give us a ride home where we fall into bed at 1am….smiles on our faces after a fun evening with so many great friends!

  1. Loving your reports Doris, also love Brenda's darker hair color, look great on her! So does that bus in service all the time or is it something you rent, I have never seen it as many times I have been to the island, is it something new?
