Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 11

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 11 ~~ Monday Feb.17

"A Walk, a Visit….and the Lolo Dinner Extravaganza!"

It's funny how your internal alarm clock quickly adapts…..I wake up by 5:45 as suddenly as if an alarm was actually blasting in my ear!

Today, it feels like I can reach out and touch the puffy clouds…

Another day of granola and yogurt on the balcony and then we are off on a walk to Chedraui and also to drop off some Cold FX that we brought for Laura Lynne.  Lots of photo opportunities on our way….

Bienvenidos a…..

It's a hot walk even early in the morning.  It was nice to meet Laura and Alan….fellow Canucks who are lucky to live almost year round in this paradise!

Off to Chedraui to gather more supplies….dropped another $750 pesos, but I'm pretty sure more than half of that was for 'liquids'  :)

We take a taxi home with all our bags and enjoy this view while eating some yummy ham, cheese and avocado and olive sandwiches….

And then it's time to just sizzle away the afternoon….

We take a few moments to enjoy the sunset…..

And then it's time to hop in the taxi for our dinner plans tonight……LOLO's!  An annual tradition that we love!

The garden setting is cozy…..

We are joined by Keith and Elisa, Keith's parents Tom and Arlene, and Darcy and Barry…all friends from Alberta...

Chef Lolo greets us and begins to tell us of all the savoury treats that we will enjoy tonight….6 courses of tastebud and tummy happiness!  I should describe it in a much more sophisticated way!

First course….baby scallops with a parmesan crisp and devilish sauce…

Second course…Foi gras with crazy salad and balsamic reduction…

Third course…Gnocchi with mushrooms, parmesan and truffle….

Fourth course…Lobster tourine with beets...

When each course arrived….cameras came out before the forks!….

Fifth course…Beef tenderloin with beans, potatoes and bacon, with a cognac infused sauce….

Sixth course…Dessert….custard, chocolate mousse, brownie, macaroon, caramel dipped grape, strawberry salsa and more!

We ate for over 3 hours…..this is a MUST DO when visiting Isla!  It was a wonderful evening, shared with good friends, enjoying good wine (BYOB) and amazing food!  As always, Lolo's creativity was appreciated by all of us….not to mention, happy tummies!  Gracias Lolo!
