Isla Mujeres 2014 ~~ Day 10

Isla Mujeres 2014

Day 10~~Sunday Feb.16

"Sunday….Fun Day, Beach Day"

Just another start to another awesome day!...

And adios to the moon until tonight….

My spot to enjoy the start of each day….

Sleepyhead is finally awake so we can enjoy our granola, yogurt and fruit.  I think we ate breakfast out twice during this whole month.  Having a 'home' like this makes it easier to budget by eating some meals at home….

By 10 we are on our way to Playa Norte….stopping in at Super Express for water and cacahuates!  I see this loaf of sandwich bread and notice all the crusts have been cut off….makes me think of when my kids were little and how they wanted the crusts off their sandwiches!

Another stop at the little beer store across from the mercado and then one more block and there it is in all it's shades of blue glory….

The gang is gathered under the palms near the back of the beach, but we prefer to be right close to the water…fewer steps to get cooled off!  We usually rent an umbrella in front of Maria del Mar…$60 pesos for the umbrella but that includes a ticket for a pop.

It's such a beautiful day….everyone decides to stay put for the sunset…..

It always gets so nice and quiet as the crowds begin to leave for the day.  Always be careful where you sit…..a coconut from that height can be deadly!….

Jan and Stephanie having a laugh...

The boys….I think there might have been a quick cerveza run before the sunset!

The sunset is perfect….an 'ahhhhh' moment…..

Have you ever noticed that as soon as the sun sinks below the horizon, a little breeze kicks up and the waves increase a bit?….

Sunset brings out the abrazos y besos….

Everyone decides to meet again for dinner.  I've wanted to try Morgan's for a few days and everyone agrees.  On our walk home we see this very talented and well-balanced gato….

I'm missing my 4 kitties at home, so it was nice to hear some meowing!….

Arriving home, we catch the end of the colours…..

Off to Morgan's, which is at the south end of Hidalgo……what a wonderful surprise….Great service, great margaritas with fresh fruit, and great food!…we'll be back often!

The gang's all here!

There was a special….3 lobster tacos and 2 cervezas…$130 pesos….heck of a deal and absolutely delicious!

I had the fish tacos…a deal at $75 pesos….love the blue corn tortillas….the fish was perfect…..just the right amount of batter, nice and crispy and not greasy at all…..

Everyone dives in…..

Everyone is very happy with their dinners.  As we're eating we are excited to see friends Darcy and Barry arrive with their kids….so fun to have so many friends here at the same time.  We all wander to the zócalo to enjoy some churros and marquesitas…..

My evening is not complete without my tiramisu ice cream…..the staff quickly came to know my favourite…..the word got out about how yummy it was and they ran out for a few days!….

Double yummmm!

  1. Thanks so much Doreese. It's been over a year since our last visit and it won't be until next spring for our next visit. Your trip reports and pics made my day!
